I am Meeka and am I am about 10 years old and 6 pounds. I am a love bug looking for a very special furever home!




I would love to be the center of someone's world as an only dog, thought I don't mind other dogs. Really, I just ignore them because I am so focused on you! Since I have am nearly blind, it's best if you don't have any dogs much larger than me or kiddos around me. Because of my blindness, I get scared and sometimes am reactive around things that move fast or are unfamiliar. 




I am looking for a very patient owner who is open to learning how to interact with me so I don't get scared! I have befriended a nightlight in my foster home and am drawn to it like it is a long lost friend. I love it dearly and it comforts me. It might be silly, but it makes the little vision I have wonderful.




Even though my vision is limited, I can navigate through the house fine and learn my pathways. Just don't change the furniture on me, please! A home that is quiet with a routine would be perfect.




I love to cuddle and snuggle and once I get in sync with my human, I am a little angel! My ideal match would be a patient person who is home a lot of the time and can devote a lot of time to snuggling with me. I love to lie on a lap and be stroked and talked to and will even reach out with a gentle paw if you stop petting me. Yes, it is as adorable as you imagine!




Potty training is a work in progress for me and I tend to go to the bathroom more often than the average pup because I have kidney disease. I mostly use a potty pad, so if I need to go to the bathroom unexpectedly, I can use that. I eat a special diet from the vet and need to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and keep my kidneys in good condition. I may have some accidents when I first arrive, but I will do my best to be the best boy I can be.



I am a bright and smart boy with a big heart and lots of love to give to just the right person. As you can see, I am a very special dog looking for a special home. Are you that special person!?

ADOPTION EVENTS:  




Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:





All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:





Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
